Waste Composition Survey
What does our waste comprise of?

In 2005 and 2007 the Wiltshire Waste Partnership (WWP) successfully secured funding from Defra to undertake surveys of waste composition in Wiltshire.
The surveys looked at samples of waste from:

residual household waste collections
-
local authority kerbside collections
-
Household Recycling Centres
-
litter & street sweepings
-
local authority trade waste collections
The surveys can help to provide the WWP with invaluable data on the composition of waste in Wiltshire. Prior to this work no such surveys have been carried out across the County as a whole. The data will be used to plan future recycling collections and to assess how waste that is not recycled can be best diverted from landfill into more productive uses.
To-date three surveys have been completed - in June and December 2005 and in January and March 2007 (this was published in July 2007). The full details of the work done and the findings of the surveys can be seen here:
