Your Waste: Newspaper and Magazines

Newspaper is recycled back into newsprint: yesterday's newspapers become tomorrow's front pages

Other paper (magazines etc) is recycled into cardboard

On average, each household in Wiltshire recycles 35kgs of newspaper and magazines a year

Recycling one tonne of paper saves up to 70% of the energy used in manufacturing from virgin materials and requires 40% less water

You can add non-glossy paper to your home composting

The paper we collect is sent to Aylesford Newsprint in Kent, this is one of the largest paper recycling plants in Europe. All inks, glues and staples are washed out with soapy water and the cleaned paper pulp is sent to a paper-making machine. paper at the depot

The resulting high quality newsprint paper supplies national and local newspapers throughout the UK and Europe.

New newspapers could be coming back to you, in the newsagents or through your door, within three to four weeks. Click here for more information.
