Aluminium cans and foil are recycled over and over again, without loss of quality.
Recycling aluminium can save up to 95% of the amount of energy used to produce aluminium from virgin materials.

Producing steel from recycled materials saves approximately 75%
of the energy needed to make steel from raw materials.
If all the aluminium drinks cans sold in the UK were recycled, there would be 14m fewer full dustbins per year.
Every steel can is 100% recyclable. It can be recycled over and over again into products like bicycles and of course new cans
Remember - All used food and drinks cans and clean aluminium foil can be recycled using your local kerbside recycling service.
Alternatively you could take your recyclables to your nearest Household Recycling Centre or mini recycling point.
Re-processing
A magnet is use to separate the steel from aluminium cans at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).
These are then passed on to re-processors where they are melted down in furnaces, with iron ore and oxygen added to remove impurities.
The pure metal is made into blocks, rolled into many shapes and sizes and water-cooled. It can be used for more tins, or car parts, fridges and other domestic appliances.
All our aluminium cans are sent to the re-processor Novelis UK Ltd, for more information on how they re-process them click here.
All our steel cans are sent to Corus UK Ltd for re-processing, click here for more information.
