Black Box Collections -
What can I put in my black box?

Kerbside Black Box
Wiltshire Residents are able to recycle a number of materials in their black box. Please see below for more information on the types of materials accepted.

Newspapers, catalogues (but not hardbacked), magazines, junk mail, leaflets, envelopes (remove plastic windows) white printer paper and most telephone directories.

We can't take Yellow Pages, cardboard or shredded paper in your black box.

Yellow Pages are not suitable for recycling with paper however they can be taken to Yellow Pages recycling skips at your nearest Household Recycling Centre when your new edition arrives on your doorstep.

Cardboard is often bulky and as such is difficult to collect and store on a kerbside vehicle. Cardboard can be collected at your nearest Household Recycling Centre.

Shredded paper can often cause wind blown litter so we are not able to accept this at the kerbside. Shredded paper is perfect for use as animal bedding or alternatively place it in your home composter. You can also take small quantities of shredded paper to your local Household Recycling Centre, where it can be placed in the paper bank provided.
If possible, put your shredded paper into a large paper envelope as we are not able to accept plastic carrier bags in the paper bank.

Clean clothes, pairs of shoes, leather belts, handbags, blankets, duvet covers and sheets. Place them in a knotted carrier bag - they need to be kept dry.

We cannot accept duvets or pillows.

All clear, green and brown glass bottles and jars - please rinse them out and remove lids.

No flat or broken glass - window panes, spectacles, pyrex, lightbulbs.

All food and drinks cans and tins. Please rinse them out and crush them where possible. This helps to save space on the collection vehicles and reduces the need for extra trips to the bulking facility.

Clean aluminium foil - e.g. Tin foil and foil tops from milk bottles. Please remember to rinse all aluminium foil so it is clean.

No silver plastic such as crisp or peanut packets. Try the scrunch test test - if it springs back, it's not foil.

All empty aerosol cans. Please do not squash aerosol cans.

Full aerosol cans.
