Plastic bottles and cardboard will shortly be added to the list of recycled items in North Wiltshire after feedback from a series of roadshows.
The recent roadshows told us that residents in North Wiltshire wanted to get more involved in recycling and wanted to be able to dispose of plastic bottles and cardboard. Now a new trial scheme is about to start to ensure everyone can now recycle even more of their household rubbish.
The trial will see a number of mini recycling sites across North Wiltshire being able to take plastic bottles and cardboard. The sites are located in convenient community locations, such as supermarkets and car parks, making it easier than ever to recycle.
The trial gets underway from Monday 10 November. The idea is to take your plastic bottles and cardboard along for recycling when doing the weekly shop. The sites include:
Chippenham - Sainsbury’s and Morrisons
Calne - Sainsbury’s
Wootton Bassett - Sainsbury’s
Corsham - Post Office Lane Car Park
Malmesbury - Station Yard Car Park
The Lead Member for Waste at North Wiltshire District Council Cllr Christine Crisp, says, “We have listened to what local people had to say about recycling. It is clear that everyone wants to play their part in recycling as much as possible and by providing sites to now recycle plastic bottles and cardboard in easy-to-reach places we can ensure people will be able to easily recycle as part of an existing journey to the shops”.
To help promote this latest recycling initiative North Wiltshire District Council will be staging roadshows to encourage residents to recycle more. The roadshows are run in partnership with Hills Waste Solutions, Wiltshire County Council and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
The roadshows will also provide an opportunity for customer comments about recycling, with anyone who takes the time to fill out one of our questionnaires being entered into a prize draw to win one of five family tickets for Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt Arboretum.
