Household Recycling Centres and Bring Sites
Remember to collapse and squash all carboard boxes when you are taking them to Household Recycling Centres and bring sites.
This helps to save space in the container, enabling us to collect more from each site.
Resdients of Wiltshire can now take their cardboard to a select number of mini recycling points. Click here for more information.
Reprocessing
Cardboard collected for recycling in Wiltshire is taken to Severnside Recycling in Kent for reprocessing.
Recycling cardboard involves soaking it in water and agitating it to release fibres, turning them back into pulp. Metal and ink contaminants are removed, additional finishing chemicals are added; the pulp is pressed into sheets and dried.
Second time around (recycled) cardboard can be used to make more boxes and packaging, stationery or animal bedding.
